Candle in the Window

7.0 x 12.0 inches

Throughout history a “Candle in the Window” has symbolized hope, safety, and hospitality. My father's family is from Twillingate, Newfoundland (Canada). A candle in the window is a familiar beacon on dark nights, guiding loved ones home after weeks of backbreaking work on the wild Atlantic Ocean. The fissured translucent calcite communicates the fragility of life; the burl base is the transformative nature of family; and the warm copper flame is for love and hope.
