Stilt Fishing
114.0 x 84.0 cm
Stilt fishing is a unique feature of Sri Lanka. Fishermen perch on cross-shaped beams, requiring a combination of balance and patience. This traditional fishing method is mainly practised on the southern coast. The fishermen look fantastic frozen in various poses in the vivid rays of sunrise and sunset. This relief painting was handcrafted using multiple layers of polymer clay on foam board, which was then baked to increase its strength and durability. It was finished with a passe-partout and wooden frame.
