Red-crowned Crane
28.0 x 39.0 cm
In China, the red-crowned crane is often featured in myths and legends. In Taoism, the red-crowned crane is a symbol of longevity and immortality. In art and literature, immortals are usually depicted riding on cranes. A crane similarly carries off a mortal who attains immortality. The red-crowned crane is also a symbol of nobility. I attempt to use the technique of paper quilling to create a unique image of the red-crowned crane, trying to combine the ancient atmosphere with a modern art approach.
