It doesn’t hold anything forever. But it doesn’t forget either. This painting came to me after a dream where I stood alone on a beach, the waves restless, the sky heavy, and something dark washed up on the sand. I couldn’t tell if it was a bottle, a stone, or something else. But it felt like a message—unfinished, maybe unreadable. In painting it, I didn’t try to define the object too clearly. I wanted to leave that choice to the viewer. It could be a bottle with a letter never delivered. Or it could be a part of ourselves, some piece we let go of long ago, now returned without a name. The brushstrokes in the water are loose, layered, and full of movement. I used softer transitions in the sky to let it stretch into something vast and open. This piece belongs to my ongoing exploration of landscapes as inner places—travel not only across the world but into the stories we carry, and sometimes abandon, along the way.
