Buddhist Monks Bathing

This clay painting was inspired by the beauty of Sri Lankan nature. It is a great illustration of rural Sri Lankan life and the ancient Buddhist monastic tradition of bathing in waterfall pools. This is an actual location near a monastery, and I was fortunate enough to be granted permission to capture this scene in my painting. This relief painting was handcrafted using multiple layers of polymer clay on an aluminium composite panel, which was then baked to increase its strength and durability. It is finished with a passe-partout and wooden frame.
